With regard to pain relief, we do not have much evidence, but we do have many testimonies. Whether it is inhaled or applied directly to the skin, if this answers the question can I apply Thieves oil directly to the skin? It’s safe to do so, no problem.

In this regard, science is doing experiments on spreading eucalyptus oil in mice and it has been shown that the pain in them decreases. The data from these recent studies is still inconclusive but is a clue to the testimonials of people who claim that their pain when using Thieves oil has decreased.

Healing cuts and wounds

Wound healing is somewhat more controversial, so using an essential oil for this is not yet recommended. However, some analysis is being done on wound healing in rats using essential oils.

Use in people for this purpose is not proven, but many use it and report good results. Studies have shown that eucalyptus oil and cinnamon oil (both present in Thieves’ oil) help mice heal their wounds.

It is important to note that the use of any oil on wounds should be done with great caution. Before doing so you should consult a doctor.
